Spanish 2.0 using www.Theoworlds.com

This ecard and avatar Java site lets your students interactively carve a pumpkin. After the carving (the sustained affective stimulus), do a print screen (directions at the end of this page) to create a document that can turn into any language. Sample below:

www.theoworlds.com/birthday– I use the birthday greetings option to enrich and enhance the “How old are you?”- “I am__ years old”  lesson. Also good for practicing saying the dates of birthdays as it keeps them focused on their work. Sample follows:

www.theoworlds.com/valentines– My favorite Oworlds card gives you many options for sending an ecard as Valentine cookies that students can decorate.  I use it to teach endearment phrases in Spanish- Sample follows:

www.theoworlds.com/christmas– As the name suggests, this is the same gist in a Gingerbread/Christmas Tree motif.  For the rest of the body parts, I use the gingerboy or gingerbread girl to practice genders. The tree is the other option,and colors, shapes, and numbers can be used for it. Sample follows:

Directions:

1. Press the PRTSC button at the top of your keboard- this saves the image

2. Open a PPT slide

3, Right click your mouse and click on “PASTE”

4. The picture will appear in your slide

5. Open the “picture toolbar” and crop the picture

6. Title the slide, and save it.

7. You can save it as a JPEG,GIF or PNG, or as a PPT to display in class.

  1. This is really innovative; when describing the gingerbread man, or any other slide, students won’t be restricted to a specific set of fields. For example, they don’t HAVE to describe the feet as “dos pies”, if they so chose they could describe another feature that strikes them in the way they see it, eg. dos manos, or instead of boca blanca, boca sonriente.

    This freedom of choice would help re-enforce the students knowledge of the features they chose and the vocabulary they chose to describe them while other features that might not have appealed to them will be highlighted by others and so they will learn something new as well.

    1. Absolutely and please forgive this ridiculously long delay. It was after I left the blog alone when I began to get readers, ironically. Hopefully I won’t lose them now that I am back.

    If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything you can advise?
