lingtech21

The LingTECHguistics* methodology consists in teaching second language (L2) lessons in full immersion through a sustained affective stimulus. This stimulus consists in a developmentally appropriate computer activity.

The rationale behind this methodology is that students will be :

a) Exposed to second language vocabulary in a real-life scenario

b) Exposed to technology whether familiar or not, in a way that is non-invasive and non-threatening

c) Learn both the language and the technology at the same time

d) Actively and Kinesthetically imitate the process of computer usage while immersing in a new language

LingTECHguistics* It is NOT computer assisted language learning. The CALL method consists in using computers as the primary resource for language learning.  Conversely, in the case of LingTECHguistics*,  the teacher continues to be the key element that plans, conducts, and monitors the lesson and students. The computer and technology take a second place.

The aim of the method is not only the integration of language and technology in a non-threatening learning environment of sustained affective stimulus, but also to demonstrate to the students that Technology is not a resource to take arbitrarily. It is an everyday item of our everyday lives that, with an open mind, can be integrated fully.

trophyThe GOAL!

Hence, the ultimate goal of the LingTECHguistics* program is to demonstrate that it IS possible to learn the language of technology and a second language at the same time, while making technology into a second nature created through human agency.
